Why I Choose Italian Coffee 95% Of The Time: An In-depth Analysis Of A Coffee Lover

Oct 05, 2025|

As a coffee lover, I have experienced the process of trying various brewing methods and finally focusing on Italian coffee. After years of exploration and practice, I found that more than 95% of my coffee time is spent on making and enjoying Italian coffee. This focus is not accidental, but based on a thoughtful consideration of coffee flavor, convenience and production experience.

Italian coffee conquered my taste buds with its rich taste and rich layered texture, and became an indispensable part of my daily life.

Espresso is the essence of the coffee world. It extracts the purest flavor of coffee beans in 25-30 seconds through high-pressure extraction. This production method can produce a layer of golden crema (coffee oil), which is the hallmark of high-quality Italian coffee and a feature that is difficult to replicate with other brewing methods.

Compared with drip coffee or French press, Italian coffee machines can extract a more complete flavor spectrum. The sour, sweet, bitter and salty flavors in coffee beans are perfectly balanced under high pressure, and every sip is a concentrated essence. For me, this intensity of coffee experience is unmatched by other methods.

Why Choose Espresso Machine As The Main Tool

Efficiency and convenience: Modern home espresso machines can prepare a cup of professional-grade coffee in minutes, especially for the rush of morning. From starting the machine to completing the extraction, the whole process is efficient and smooth.

Flavor control: Espresso machines allow me to precisely control every variable - grind size, powder amount, tamping force, water temperature and extraction time. This control allows me to adjust parameters according to different coffee beans and explore the most ideal flavor performance.

Variety: Based on a cup of espresso, I can easily make a variety of drinks - Americano, latte or cappuccino. This flexibility meets my needs at different times of the day, from a morning pick-me-up to an afternoon leisure drink.

My Espresso Routine

Every morning, my coffee ritual starts with preheating the espresso machine. I prefer to use medium-dark roasted single-origin coffee beans, usually from Ethiopia or Colombia. Grind the coffee beans to the coarseness of fine sugar, accurately weigh 18 grams of coffee powder, evenly distribute the powder and use 30 pounds of pressure to tamp.

The extraction process is the most enjoyable moment of my day - watching the golden brown coffee liquid slowly flow out and form a perfect crema. Extracting 36 grams of coffee liquid in 25-30 seconds is my ideal parameter. On weekends, I will use this machine to make latte art for my family, turning daily coffee into a creative expression.

Although a good semi-automatic espresso machine is expensive, it is a worthwhile investment in the long run. Considering that I use it 95% of the time for coffee, the actual cost per cup of coffee is much lower than buying it in a cafe. More importantly, it allows me to replicate the level of professional coffee shops at home, or even better, because I can make infinite adjustments according to my personal taste.

Maintaining the espresso machine has also become a hobby of mine. Regular maintenance work such as changing the water filter, cleaning the brewing head, and descaling ensure that the machine is always in the best condition and also extend the life of the equipment.

Although I use an espresso machine 95% of the time, I occasionally try other brewing methods. I might use a portable hand brewer when traveling, or try cold brew coffee in the summer. But these explorations have made me confirm the core position of espresso in my life - nothing can replace the satisfaction brought by a perfect cup of espresso.

Focusing on espresso is not a limitation, but a deep exploration. In the seemingly single brewing method, I found infinite changes and fun. Every fine-tuning of parameters and every try of new beans is a further understanding of the art of coffee.
