Electric Kettle Usage Tips
Aug 17, 2025| Electric kettles are often heated using a heating plate. This plate is welded to the kettle base. While one side of the base is located inside the kettle, the heating plate and its conductive terminals are located outside. The inside and outside are typically bolted together, and the seal and leak prevention are achieved entirely by a rubber ring placed between the heating tube and the kettle body. Although this rubber ring is heat-resistant to temperatures exceeding 100°C, due to the high temperatures electric kettles operate in, it will age and lose its elasticity over time, causing water to leak out. This can lead to various malfunctions, including carbonization of the bakelite socket, short circuits, melting of the kettle metal, and blown fuses. Users should carefully inspect the area around the bakelite socket for any signs of water leakage before recharging the kettle and turning on the power cord. If the power cord fastening bolts are loose, tighten them immediately to compress the rubber ring to prevent leakage. If the rubber ring loses its elasticity due to aging, it should be replaced immediately with a new, high-temperature-resistant rubber ring to ensure safe use.
